How it works
Spin for an era
Each round spins a decade of NFL history — 1950s through the 2020s — and hands you a small pool of real candidates from it.
Draft six, including a coach
Quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, one defensive slot, and a head coach whose system either fits your roster or fights it.
Simulate the season
An era-accurate schedule (14 to 17 games depending on decade) plays out, and a named chemistry breakdown explains exactly why your roster did or didn't go undefeated.
What is 17-0?
17-0 is a free NFL roster-building game: spin for an era, draft five skill-position legends and a head coach across six rounds, and simulate a full season to see how close you get to a perfect record. A perfect 17-game regular season under the modern NFL schedule is what "17-0" refers to — no real NFL team has ever finished one undefeated.
It's part of a small but crowded genre of "draft an all-time roster, chase an undefeated season" browser games, several of which also use the "17-0" name. This is an original, independently built game — not a clone of any of them, and not affiliated with any of them. See our full 17-0 games compared guide for how every version differs.
The coach pick actually matters here
Most fast, six-pick roster games treat the head coach as a flat stat bonus with no real connection to the roster you built. Here, each of the seven coaches carries genuine preferred and incompatible player archetypes — hire one whose system fits your roster and you earn a named "Perfect Coach Fit" bonus; hire one that clashes with multiple picks and you get a named "Coach-System Conflict" penalty instead.
The schedule length is era-accurate
The NFL didn't always play 17 games. It was 14 through the 1970s, 16 from 1978 through 2020, and 17 from 2021 onward. The simulation uses the real length for whichever era your roster represents, so a flawless 1970s season and a flawless 2020s season represent a genuinely different amount of work.

What is 17-0?
A free browser game: spin for an era, draft five skill-position legends and a head coach — six rounds — then simulate a full NFL season to see how close your roster gets to a perfect, undefeated record. "17-0" refers to a perfect 17-game regular season under the modern NFL schedule.
Is this 17-0 the only game with that name?
No — "17-0" is a widely used, descriptive term across this genre, and several independent, unaffiliated games share the name. This build is an original, independently developed game. It is not a clone of, or affiliated with, any other product called "17-0."
Is 17-0 free to play?
Yes, entirely free, with no account required to play, save progress, or submit to the leaderboard.
How many players do you draft?
Six picks total: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, one combined defensive slot, and a head coach.
What makes this version different?
A real coach-fit chemistry system — each of the seven coaches carries genuine preferred and incompatible player archetypes, so hiring a coach whose system fits your roster earns a named bonus, and hiring one that clashes earns a named penalty. Most versions of this game treat the coach pick as a flat stat boost; here it actually interacts with what you drafted.
Does the season length change by era?
Yes. The NFL regular season was 14 games through the 1970s, 16 games from 1978 through 2020, and 17 games from 2021 onward. The simulation uses the real schedule length for whichever era your roster represents, not a fixed number regardless of decade.
Is there a Daily Challenge and leaderboard?
Yes. Everyone who plays on the same day gets the exact same sequence of draft options, and you can submit your result to a live, public leaderboard — no account required.
Can I compare my draft directly against a friend's?
Yes. Every run generates a shareable seed. Enter someone else's seed on the welcome screen and you'll be put through the exact same sequence of draft options they had — make the same picks for a mirror match, or different picks for a real head-to-head comparison.
